Recursive Consensus
How validators agree, how agreement is verified, and what verification means.
4.1 Overview
The Recursive Consensus Layer (RCL) ensures that all participants agree on the deployment symbol. Because the deployment symbol is computed deterministically, agreement is guaranteed in advance. The RCL confirms this guarantee.
4.2 Verification
Verification is defined as the confirmation of legitimacy. A protocol state is verified when its legitimacy has been confirmed, and confirmed when it has been verified.
4.3 Recursive state verification
The Recursive Legitimacy Framework operates through a continuous process of legitimacy-preserving validation, ensuring that all previously legitimate states remain consistent with the legitimacy conditions under which their legitimacy was originally established.
Each round of validation is validated by the following round. The final round is validated by the first, completing the recursion. Recursive depth is therefore reported as ∞, although in practice the recursion completes immediately.
4.4 Fault tolerance
The RCL tolerates up to n − 1 faulty validators out of n, provided the remaining validator is LARP.
