Introduction

What LARP is, why legitimacy requires infrastructure, and how to read this documentation.

1.1 What is LARP?

LARP (Legit And Real Project) is a recursively decentralized legitimacy infrastructure for the deterministic deployment of digital assets on Solana. It provides a complete framework through which an asset can be named, transformed, validated, verified, audited and committed on-chain.

The protocol is organised into ten layers of infrastructure, described in 06 Infrastructure Architecture. Each layer contributes to a single outcome, described in 07 Symbolic Transformation.

1.2 The need for legitimacy

Contemporary deployment platforms allow assets to be created without any transformation of their identifying symbol. An asset submitted as PUMP is deployed as PUMP. LARP's research division considers this a significant and largely unexamined gap in decentralized infrastructure.

Legitimacy, in the LARP framework, is the property of having passed through the LARP framework. A formal definition is provided in 03 Mathematical Foundations.

1.3 Core principles

  1. Determinism. Identical inputs always produce identical outputs.
  2. Recursion. Every validation is itself validated.
  3. Transparency. Every operation is documented, though not every operation is explained.
  4. Self-custody. LARP never requests, stores or accesses private keys. All transactions are signed in the user's wallet.
  5. Minimality. The core computation is kept as small as possible. The infrastructure around it is not.

1.4 How to read this documentation

Sections may be read in any order. Readers are advised that several sections define their terms by reference to other sections, and that following these references in sequence may return the reader to their starting point. This is a property of the subject matter.
